Help, and how the Record works

Help with gambling in Alberta is free and confidential, by phone, by text or online. The second half of this page sets out how the Record checks and dates its facts.

Where to get help

  • The Addiction Helpline, run by Recovery Alberta, answers at 1-866-332-2322. It is free, confidential and open 24/7, and it covers problem gambling.
  • 211 Alberta is free, confidential and open 24/7: call 211, text INFO to 211, or use its online chat. It includes referrals for gambling support.
  • AGLC's Self-Exclusion Program is enrolled online only at selfexclusion.ca, for Alberta casinos and racing entertainment centres, regulated online gaming, or both. Terms are six months, one, two or three years, start immediately and cannot be cancelled early.
  • A Responsible Gambling Info Centre representative is on site at Great Northern Casino. GameSense, AGLC's responsible gambling program, has GameSense Advisors and an info centre in each Alberta casino and racing entertainment centre.

Setting limits

Set a time limit and a money limit before leaving for the casino, and keep to both. Winner's Edge members can set spending and time limits, with alerts, through the GameSense My Activity and Budgeting Tools. Those tools are at the Winner's Edge kiosk in any Alberta casino and online. People enrolled in self-exclusion cannot join Winner's Edge. The legal gambling age in Alberta is 18, and casino staff must check valid government-issued photo ID for anyone who appears to be under 25.

About the 107 Avenue desk

The Record is written and signed collectively as the 107 Avenue desk. No page carries a personal byline, and the site has no named author. Each page carries the date its facts were checked.

Facts in the Record were checked on October 11, 2026. They were checked against Great Northern Casino's own pages, the AGLC casino directory, the City of Grande Prairie and provincial sources. Distances are straight lines between map coordinates. Roads are longer than these lines.

The Record is an independent guide, not Great Northern Casino's own site, and it takes no bets. It has no forms, no comments and no accounts. Nothing about readers is kept except the colour theme chosen in the browser tab.
